About Raised Bed Atlas
Raised Bed Atlas is an independent educational website about raised bed, container and small-space vegetable gardening. Our purpose is to give home gardeners in the United States clear, practical and accurate information they can act on.
What we publish
- Step-by-step guides to planning, building and filling raised beds.
- Soil, compost and mulch guidance.
- Seed starting, transplanting and planting-time explanations.
- Seasonal planning that accounts for the different climates across the US.
- Container and indoor herb gardening for people with limited space.
- Free planning tools, starting with our raised bed soil calculator.
Who it is for
Our audience is beginner and intermediate gardeners in the United States: homeowners, renters with a patio or balcony, and anyone who wants to grow some of their own vegetables and herbs. Content uses US measurements (feet, inches, gallons, °F).
How we create content
Each guide is researched using publicly available guidance from university Cooperative Extension programs, the USDA, NOAA and other recognized public institutions, and lists its sources at the end. We write original explanations rather than copying other publications. Because recommended planting times vary so much across the country, we explain how to find local guidance instead of presenting a single national calendar. Details are in our editorial policy.
What we are not
Raised Bed Atlas is not a store, does not sell products, and is not affiliated with USDA, any university, or any Cooperative Extension program. We do not claim professional certifications. Our articles are general educational information; for advice specific to your property, contact your local Extension office.
